Why We Do What We Do

By Björn Hammarson

I get asked three questions a lot. The first one is, “What exactly is a Thornish person?” The second one is; “What do Thornish people do?” The third one is: “Why do Thornish people do what they do?”

I have discussed my view on the first two of these questions in various places, so I would like to talk a bit about the last one:” Why do Thornish people do what they do?”

Thornish people believe that we, like many others in this world, were created for the purpose of helping to re-balance the Earth. We know that Thornish people are not the only ones to have been activated by the Old Ones for this purpose. There are many others out there and our numbers are growing.

We believe that we humans were always intended to be caretakers of the world and that most of us have fallen into a deep, dark sleep and become herd animals of a sort. We believe that most humans have forgotten what their purpose is.

We also know that more than ever, people are starting to wake up and when they wake up they need to have guides to help them on their continuing road to awakening. As I have said Thornish people are not the only ones to do this.

The spirit world, nature and the ancestors of all humans have conspired to create implements of balance all over the place – as a kind of failsafe against the very sorts of damage being done to the world in these times. That failsafe takes the form of human beings who are given the gift of awakening so that they can do the job they were intended to do. The job awakened humans are intended to do is to care for the Earth, work to maintain balance and yes, fight against all those who would damage this sacred world.

Make no mistake about it: There are some very ignorant people out there. There are some extremely twisted and soul dead people out there as well and they are even more dangerous than the ignorant people are. Think about the state of the world today and think about how much poison and damage is being unleashed on our sacred planet every single day. People in growing numbers are telling these world-killers to stop what they are doing. But you see these people who are doing these things will not listen. Maybe they are incapable of listening – or perhaps they are just to depraved and even just plain evil. (I hate to use this word; evil, because in Thornish beliefs there really is no equivalent belief – but to get the idea across to the non-Thornish reader I will use it.)

So what can be done?

More people need to wake up and when they wake up become active. They need to break free of the lies of society – the lies that tell us everything is okay and there is nothing to worry about. The lies that say it is okay to go to war with other nations and to allow military spending to outweigh spending on wholesome things. The lie that says there is no such thing as poverty or disparity or even global warming. The lie that encourages us to be complacent and sit back and put blinders on about what is happening. The lie that encourages us to feel less-than and in our feelings of being limited we are encouraged to feel better by consuming.

People who are awake stand up for what they believe in. They make noise. The establishment does not like this and will try to stop people like us. But what happens when the masses all awaken and decide that yes, there are far more of us than there are of the evil ones?

That’s when big change happens.

We are fighting for our world my friends. We are fighting for all life on this world including our own. We are fighting for the lives of children unborn and do you know what? We are even fighting for those who have come and gone before us- because if we all die here and now, who will remember them?

The war is very real and it is going on right now. It can be boiled down to this: There are those who have been paving a very destructive path in the world for a very long time. They have power and money and all the luxuries, while the bulk of all other life on this world is held in thrall and USED. The Earth herself is being used and abused….killed day by day so that a relative few people can enjoy luxury and power. The ones in charge of this mass genocidal experiment are twisted and evil (there’s that word again) and they don’t want to let go of their power. Thornish people believe that these people with the world-killer mindset are an aberration of nature, a malignant thing much like cancer that will eventually kill the host body.

It is the job of awakened people to break the hands that hold this power. It is the job of the people to take away the control from these world killers and once that is done concentrate all efforts on fixing what has been damaged.

Some say it is already too late. Others say there is still hope.

Thornish people are in the latter category.

So why do we do what we do? Why do we educate those who wish to hear our words? Why do we commune with the forces of nature and empower ourselves on our deep green road? Why do we perform rites of power and knowing in the wild places? Why do we seek to become better people and to recapture our roles as stewards of the Earth?

I have two answers for that. The first is because we believe humankind was created to be a species of protectors and guardians – not world killers.

The second  is that if we do not awaken fully as a species and repair the damage that has been done; if we don’t heal our bodies, minds , spirit and planet and remove the parasites and the cancer-people from our world then all of us – every single one – will be dead.

With no one left to sing our songs we will be forgotten.

We do what we do for life and balance.

We do what we do because we were built to do it and because we can.
